Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Chef Manager at YMCA Surbiton. The Catering Department falls under the YMCA brand of Health and Wellbeing and is quite unique delivering a number of catering services including a Café style service to the public, afterschool meals and cooking & serving lunches for a free school in Kingston upon Thames.  The Catering Department is currently going through a period of change and the Catering Manager will be responsible for the development of the vision and strategy for the Catering function at YMCA Surbiton.

We would expect the postholder to oversee the recommendations of the Catering Review for catering services, with an emphasis on increasing day-time usage and services offered and to lead the Catering team through this period of change; to work alongside the Chef and Restaurant Supervisor in menu planning and presentation and provide positive motivational leadership, mentoring and coaching to the staff team and build relationships with internal and external customer groups e.g. local businesses, schools, community groups and churches.

Our Catering Manager should have knowledge of the catering industry, a good understanding of Health and Safety and food hygiene and to have managed a similar business operation. A recognised catering qualification would be desirable but not essential.  This role is subject to safeguarding checks including a DBS check in line with YMCALSW procedures.   YMCA LSW is a Christian organisation and as an employee, you will be required to respect the Christian ethos of the YMCA and uphold its values.
